Abstract
550,518. Switches held set and freed mechanically. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. April 13, 1942, No. 4855. Convention date, May 6, 1941. [Class 38 (v)] A push button switch has latching means to hold each push rod "on" until released by actuation of the latching bar, comprising an arm biased into latching position by the same spring which tends to return the bar to "off." In the example, each push rod 14 to be latched has a pivoted member 31 bringing about shoulders 35 on the rod by reason of hook-pieces 32. the other end being bent as shown. A spring 34 bears against a turned up lug 33 on the latch and also serves to return the rod to the front after release. On depressing the key 17, the end of the latch rides over the pointed catch 23 on the latching bar 22 and falls behind it, to hold the rod in depressed position. The bar 22 may be moved laterally to release any of a number of keys that may have been depressed and held similarly by a releasing key: which has no latch but having a bolt with means to ride up a catch similar to 23 to force the bar laterally.
