Abstract

1437790 Switch contact units CUTLERHAMMER EUROPA Ltd 3 April 1974 [5 April 1973] 16457/73 Heading H1N An electrical switch has a contact unit comprising in an insulating body 56 a pair of contacts 84, 86 biased towards contact with each other by a spring 90, the unit being removably held in the switch body 10a in either a first or a second angular sense such that in the first sense the moving contact 86 is normally held away from the fixed contact 84 against the pressure of spring 90 by the action of an extension 44a of a lever in the switch body which carries an armature, attraction of the armature to an electromagnet displacing the extension to allow the contacts to close, and in the second sense, the moving contact 86 normally contacts the fixed contact 84, attraction of the armature then to the electromagent displacing the extension to engage the moving contact and displace it to open the contacts. The contact unit has surfaces 92, 94 which provide abutments for a spring 96a which co-operates with a lever 98a to bias the extension 44a said lever operated by the armature and extending out of the switch body acts as an indicator, this indicator also being capable of operating the switch if displaced manually its plurality of contact units may be held in a switch body, and as an alternative to an electromagnetic switch a manual push button switch can use such contact units.
