549,605. Combined electric motor, clutch and brake. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). May 26, 1941, No. 6703. [Class 80 (ii)] The rotor shaft 18 of an electric motor 'has a flywheel 20 with a friction face 21 co-operating with a driven disc 24 on a sleeve 22 longitudinally slidable on the shaft 18. The disc 24 also co-operates with a brake member 37 carried by an adjusting screw 36 projecting into the motor casing 11. A circular member 47 embraces the sleeve and is connected to mechanism for moving it axially for engaging the disc 24 with either the face 21 or brake member 37. Gear wheels 25, 26, connect the plate 24 with a shaft 27. All the above parts are located within the motor housing 11 which has an arched part 51 and a plate 52 enclosing an oil bath for lubricating the mechanism. The shaft 27 carries outside the casing a driving pulley 33. The gears 25, 26, may be changed to give a different speed of rotation to the shaft 27. Specification 535,239 is referred to.
