549,155. Lubricators. BENNIS COMBUSTION Ltd., and BENNIS, A. W. May 28, 1941. No. 6825. [Class 12 (iii)] Rectilinearly moving axles, such as conveyer chain spindles, are lubricated by a grease gun automatically moved into engagement with the end of each spindle in succession, moved with the spindle during lubricant feed and then disengaged and returned to the starting point. The grease gun A is carried in a housing C on a bar D hinged to parallel arms E, E<SP>1</SP> pivoted at F<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>2</SP> to a fixed framing F. The spindles H have nipples H<SP>1</SP> which engage arms on a shaft J so as to move a slide K mounted in a bracket K<SP>2</SP> on the framing F. The slide K has a tappet K3 engaging a roller E<SP>1</SP> on arm E<SP>2</SP> so as to move the gun A. Initial movement of arm E<SP>1</SP> brings the gun in engagement with the nipple, and further movement actuates the gun whilst travelling with the nipple. The gun is returned by spring L when the nipple clears the arm on shaft J. Bar D has a roller running on the framing F to carry the weight of the gun. The gun can be secured out of action by a hand-lever O which has a cam P moved to engage bar D and prevent its return by spring L.
