[Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii).] A lubricating device for a conveyer chain comprises a lubricant-containing drum c journalled in fixed bearings e, Fig. 6, and carrying one or more radially-arranged grease guns y having spring-pressed plungers w adapted to engage nipples p on the chain, the drum being rotated during the travel of the chain by a sprocket wheel d mounted on the drum and engaging the runner wheels m. The driving connection between the wheel d and drum comprises an adjustable bracket k on the former which is normally held in contact with an arm j on the latter by a spring h, the arrangement being such that the drum may over-run the wheel to a limited extent. The drums corresponding to the two lines of runners are both supplied with lubricant from an overhead tank through a hollow shaft b. The plunger w may be held in retracted position so as to render the gun inoperative, by means of a spring- loaded catch 2, Fig. 2, engaging a shoulder 3 on the plunger ; by withdrawing the catch and giving it a partial turn, the plunger is released. Each runner wheel m rotates on a bush n, Fig. 5, to the squared ends of which inner links o are fitted, the outer links u being pinned to the axle s which carries the buckets v. The nipples p are mounted on the links o and the lubricant supplied thereto passes through ducts q, r, t to the surface of the bush n.
