Abstract
548,925. Current collectors for electric vehicles. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD, HOLLAND, J., and POWELL, H. J. June 14, 1941, No. 7569. [Class 104 (iii)) A current collector comprises a grooved slipper 10 supported by trunnions the axis of which lies at or near the surface 12 of contact between the slipper and the conductor. The trunnions may be formed by the circular tops of pillars 7 rising from the table 6 rotatably mounted in the bracket 4 of the harp. The trunnions engage curved recesses 8 in the sides of the slipper, so that the slipper rocks on these curved surfaces, The slipper is attached by a screw 19 to a yoke 17 formed with a curved surface engaging a sleeve 21 on a pin 20 mounted in the pillars 7. A curved guide 23 prevents entanglement with the conductor gear if the trolly jumps the wire. The carbon contact is held up to shoulders 14 in the slipper by a spring 15 supported by 17.
