Abstract

490,952. Trolly - gear for electric vehicles. MAWER, A. W. Aug. 18, 1937, No. 4997/36. [Class 104 (iii)] In trolly-gear for trackless electric vehicles, auxiliary loop sections 26a, 27a of conductor are carried by the collectors 24a, 25a of one vehicle to enable the collectors 24b, 25b, of an overtaking vehicle to be supplied with current, while passing the overtaken vehicle. The collectors 24a, 25a, 24b, 25b are slidable on cross arms 29a, 29b carried by the poles 15a, 15b, of the two vehicles, and the sections have pivoted shoes 126a, 126b sliding on the main conductors 8, 9, the collectors are slidably mounted between pairs of springs 31, 32, 33, 34, on the cross arms, and the sections 26, 27 are bent downwards in the same vertical plane as the conductors 8, 9. The trolly pole 15a may be mounted at its base in a universal bearing surrounded by a number of tension springs co-operating to centralize the pole. The arm 29a may be supported on the pole 15a by a link 43a carrying a'pin 42a slidable in a cam slot 41a in a member 38a pivoted on the pole 15a and connected by a rod 35a to the roof of the vehicle.
