[Class 98 (i)] A roll-film camera having means for simultaneously winding the film and setting the shutter and a mechanism which latches the shutter release against actuation until unlatched by the film winding operation, includes means for manually operating the shutter-setting means and for releasing the latch independently of the film-winding mechanism. The invention applies particularly to cameras having an adaptor back for art-films, during the use of which the filmwinding mechanism is not employed. The invention is illustrated as applied to the rollfilm camera having the same mechanism as that described in Specification 543,450, and described in the Specification, for simultaneously setting the shutter and winding the film and for interlocking the film-winding means and shutter release. In this mechanism a lever 20 pivoted at 21 is swung counter-clockwise to set the shutter by the movement to the right of a slidable frame 24, this movement being produced by contact with the frame of a roller 43 on an arm 42 which is rotated when the film is wound. To set the shutter independently, a lever 73 extending to the outside of the camera is moved clockwise to the position shown, an arm 77 on it contacting with a pin 78 on a slide 70 connected by a pin 71a to the slide 24, which is thus moved to the right to set the shutter. At the same time, a cam projection 80 on an arm 76 of the lever 73 engages a pin 79 on the interlocking lever 54, which is thus rocked about its pivot 55 to free the lug 53 from the slot 50 in the disc 49 and then moved to the right so that its end 62 moves the spring 63 from engagement in a groove in the shutter release member 28, which is thus free to be operated.
