Abstract

549,195. Photographic roll-film cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Feb. 3, 1942, No. 1440. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1941. [Class 98 (i)] A roll-film camera includes means which normally latches a shutter actuating means against operation, means adapted to be connected to and operated by a film-feeding mechanism to release the latch when the film is fed, and a single manually-operable means for disconnecting the latch releasing means at any time from the film-feeding mechanism and actuating it to release the latch from the shutter-actuating means. The invention is particularly applicable to roll-film cameras in which a cut-film adaptor back may be used, the film-feeding mechanism being then inoperative. The mechanism shown is the same as that described in Specification 548,754, in which a spring latch 63 latches the shutter release member 28 against operation until, as shown, it is disconnected from it by the movement to the right of a lever 54. This movement occurs when the lever 54 is connected to the film-feeding mechanism near the end of the feeding operation, by the engagement of a lug 53 on the end of the lever in a slot 50 in a disc 49, so that slight further rotation of the disc which occurs as the winding is completed moves the lever to the right. As described in Specification 548,754, the shutter is normally set by means operating in conjunction with the film-winding means but it may be independently set by the movement of a lever 73 manually operable from the exterior of the camera. According to the present invention, an arm 76 on this lever has a cam portion 80 which engages a pin 79 on the lever 54 so as first to turn it to release the lug 53 from the notched disc 49, and then to move it to the right to disengage the spring latch 63 from the release member 28. The shutter may thus be released as well as set independently of the film-feeding mechanism.
