Abstract
563,884. Roll-film cameras. KODAK, Ltd. May 20, 1943, No. 8042. Convention date, June 19, 1942. [Class 98 (i)] In roll-film camera in which operation of a winding member in one direction feeds the film from a supply spool across an exposure frame, and in the opposite direction re-winds the film on to the same spool, and in which the film is held against the exposure frame by a pressure member during the exposures, a one-way clutch normally permits operation of the winding member in one direction only, but is releasable by means which also moves the pressure member away from the exposure frame to form an open film channel. In the construction shown, the film is first fed from the supply spool S into a take-up chamber 7 containing a spring 12 which causes the film to form' a loose coil. During this operation a button 26 is depressed, moving a slide 17 to the left so that a pin 27 on it disengages a pawl 14 from a ratchet on the winding shaft to allow it to be rotated anticlockwise. The slide 17 also rocks levers 19 so that their cam-formed ends 18 engage lugs 25 extending from the presser plate, so moving it away from the exposure .frame to release the film. When the button 26 'is released, the slide 17 is returned by a spring and the pawl 14 allows the film to be wound only in one direction, back on to the spool between exposures, and the pressure plate is released and comes into operation.
