Abstract

548,451. Agricultural implements. BROWN TRACTORS, Ltd., D., and MERRITT, H. E. March 6, 1941. No. 3037. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A hydraulic mechanism for controlling the operations of ploughs, cultivators or the like drawn by tractor vehicles, or of bulldozers, scrapers and the like is constructed with a control valve g which governs the amount of liquid by-passed on its way from a pump f to a cylinder a in which is arranged a piston b connected by a link c to an arm don a shaft e which is connected by linkage to the tool. In the highest position of the tool the arm d is held by a spring-catch s engaging a sear d<SP>1</SP> on the arm d. The valve g is controlled by a spring-controlled rod g<SP>1</SP> connected to a floating link m<SP>1</SP> fitted with a roller n in engagement with a cam o operated by a handle p. The link m<SP>1</SP> is connected by a spring r to the arm d. By moving the arm p in the direction of the arrow p<SP>2</SP> the valve g is depressed and constricts the flow of liquid to the by-pass pipe h and the piston b rises until it finally reaches the position shown in dotted lines, and from this position it can drop to the position in which the catch s. holds the arm d due to the valve g reaching the full line position in which liquid can leave the cylinder a by a small by-pass m. The arm p is moved in the direction of the arrow p<SP>3</SP> to relieve the pressure on the piston b and to release the catch s. The lever p and cam o may be replaced by a bell-crank and link.
