[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Uniting by fusion.-A base metal is hard faced with a hard carbide such as of tungsten, tartalum, titanium or chromium without the use of a binding metal by applying the carbide in powder form to the base metal and arc welding with a carbon or graphite electrode in the absence of a flux. According to the Provisional Specification the base metal may be steel.
