Abstract

548,081. Couplings. ENGLISH, S., and STUDHOLME, J. April 9, 1941, No. 4716. [Class 38 (i)] A wiring chamber 4 which is connected by a constricted passage to a canopy 1 carrying a lampholder 2 and its reflector &c. is shielded from the heat of the lamp either by interposing a screening disc 13 between the terminal block 11 and the fitting 1, or by inserting in the nipple 5 in the constricted passage a bush fitting closely round the wires 6. The sides of the chamber 4 are inclined inwards and its maximum width is less than that of the canopy 1 so as to avoid impingement of the hot air escaping round the flange 1a. The wires 6 are insulated with asbestos or woven glass.
