Abstract

546,635. Lubricating - systems ; fluid-pressure brakes. BEERS, L. J. Jan. 21, 1941, No. 794. [Classes 12 (iii) and 103 (i)] The pressure gauge of a forcefeed lubricating system has an hydraulic valve consisting of a cylinder 1 with a fluid-tight piston 10 which communicates the pressure of the fluid in inlet pipe 2 to that in outlet pipe 12, the piston closing the outlet when the pressure therein falls below that in the inlet. If the system fed by the outlet 12 becomes damaged, the piston will move to the end of the cylinder and prevent leakage from the inlet system. The piston may carry a coned peg 10a engaging the conical end of outlet orifice 8. The Provisional Specification states that the valve may be applied to the individual brakes of a four-wheel brake system for vehicles.
