Abstract
544,114. Metal bars. HIGH DLTTY ALLOYS, Ltd., and HERON, J. A. Dec. 4, 1940, No. 17254. [Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A profile section bar, such as a light alloy spar for aircraft, ships, &c., is extruded with integral portions of different cross section. The billet may be forced through a divided die 8 followed by another 3 of reduced aperture, the die parts 3 being separated when intermediate portions of larger section are required. The end portion E is of enlarged section in any case. In a modification the die 2, Fig. 5, may include sliding segments 11 which are displaced by fluid-operated pistons 13 to vary the extruded section. Specifications 518,037 and 524,189, [both in Group XXII], are referred to.
