Abstract
543,927. Chairs; furniture frames. WYATT, E. H. March 24, 1941. No. 3973. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] Chairs, tables, &c. constructed to facilitate nesting have substantially rectangular seat or top frames 7 .. 14 and the legs 1-4 of wood are secured to the outside edges of the frames, the front legs 2, 3 at least being connected to the frames by mortice joints as shown in an exploded view in Fig. 6. The rear legs may be continued upwards to form a back and are not connected beneath the frames so that the chairs &c. may be stacked vertically as shown in Fig. 2. The lower ends of the front legs are widened to receive side rails 17 which are morticed into the back legs. The tops of the front legs are attached by screws 25 to the tongues 19 of the upper front frame members 11, and the frame members are secured together by screws 15. The space between the frames may be formed into a receptacle for handbags, &c. by the seat proper 27, Fig. 4, and a bottom closure 26 of the lower frame.
