543,714. Resins. BRITISH THOMSON- .HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 26, 1940, No. 14586. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1939. [Class 95] [Also in Groups V and IV] A composition capable of being hot-moulded contains the heat re-action product of a mixture comprising copal and an oxide of polyvalent metal in an amount substantially in excess of that required to form the resinates with or without a filler such as mica, wood floor, cotton flock or asbestos. Resins known as Manilla copals are most useful, and oxides of lead, zinc, calcium and magnesium may be used. Part of the copal resin may be replaced by an alkyd resin, e.g. those described in Specification 14632/40, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, preferably of high acidic value, and phenolic resins may also be added. A small quantity of Portland cement, unslaked lime or plaster of Paris may be added:
