Abstract

543,377. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Nov. 28, 1940, No. 17019. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 29] Absorption systems.-In a continuous-cycle inert gas system strong solution flows from above an apertured partition in the absorber 17 through a conduit 23 of a liquor and vapour heat exchanger and issues through a restricted opening 26 in the closed end of the conduit 23 to the outer conduit 25 of the exchanger, while vapour from the generator 11 bubbles through this liquid and is thereby analysed before passing along the vapour space of the outer conduit, which serves as a rectifier. The generator includes the usual heated pumping coil 10 delivering to a separate vessel 15, from which weak liquid flows to the absorber through an inner conduit 28 of the liquor heat exchanger. The restriction 26 should be of such size as to maintain the conduit 23 and the end of conduit 25 flooded. A pool of solution is formed in a vessel 21 below the absorber partition, connected by a small bore conduit 22 with generator 11 and forming a dead end for liquid. This liquid absorbs or evolves vapour from or to the gas mixture in the absorber according to the partial pressure of the refrigerant vapour there, and thus varies automatically the concentration of the liquor actually in circulation in accordance with the refrigerating load. Specifications 516,912 and 526,977 are referred to.
