[Classes 29 and 64 (iii)] Absorption systems.-Surfaces of the absorber 13 and of the evaporator 12 over which solution or refrigerant flows, particularly water and brine coils 22, 20 over which the liquid is distributed from troughs 27, 19, are artificially roughened or rendered liquid-retaining by electro-deposition of a porous or spongy metal coating thereon. In the case of steel coils a coating of iron is applied. The system shown is of the known inert gas type including a generator 10, rectifier 17 and condenser 11.
