542,064. Gas-blast switches; switchgear structures. DAVIES, D. R., and METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Sept. 27, 1940, No. 14641. Addition to 528,429, [Class 38 (v)] The circuit-breaker of the parent Specification is modified in that firstly, the arc chute 2 is movably mounted within the earthed casing 1 on means adapted to guide the chute through a closable opening in the casing wall, and, secondly, is arranged as one unit of a switchgear structure, the other unit of which includes busbars 61, 66 and isolating switches as 63 for connecting them with the breaker. A connecting link 16, insulated for example as in Specification 354,350, [Group XXXVI], and carrying a current transformer 18 in a removable bell 17, connects the isolating switch 63 with the fixed breaker contact 3 and is removable to permit shipment of the two units as separate parts. The movable contact 4 operated by a servomotor 9 separates from the contact 3 in the chute 2 and a blast from reservoir 12 passes along pipe 14. The side plates 19 of the chute are extended and carry rollers 21, 22 sliding on rails 23 which, in turn, are supported by rollers 24 ... 27 on the casing 1 and have stops 28, 29 whereby, when the door 30 is opened, the parts may be pulled out to the position shown. The discharge conduit 31, extends into the expansion chamber 32 from the rear wall of the chute, which carries bakelized fabric bolts 33, 34 passing through bell 17 for clamping it tightly against the flange 36 of contact 3. The lower end of conductor 7 connects with a contact for a lowerable potential transformer 54 and with an annular metal member 50 forming part of ran oil-poor cableisolating switch constructed as in Specification 523,983, the lower part 42a of which is lowerable for inspection of contacts and has an oilretaining gasket 49. The busbar-isolating switches are similar. The Provisional Specification states also that the latter may be servomotor-operated from a control desk, and refers to Specification 523,420 as an alternative construction of isolating switch,
