Abstract

541,952. Discharge apparatus ; couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and BOURNE, H. K. Aug. 21, 1940, No. 13269. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a discharge tube wherein a number of conductors 1 connected to the same electrode pass through a seal 3, the cap consists of two metal members 4, 5 between whose tapered surfaces the ends of the conductors are clamped when the members are drawn together The member 4 as shown is connected to the seal 3 and the two are drawn together by the nut and bolt 6. The member 5 may be in two parts engaged by a head or washer on the bolt 6. In a modification the second member screws on the outside of the first corresponding tapered parts receiving the conductors. In another form the conductors are clamped between a plug formed on a nut and a coned inner surface on the screw fixed to the seal. Radiating fins may be fastened on the cap to cool the seals.
