Abstract
540,268. Powder distributers. WALLEY, J. A. June 3, 11940, No. 9661. [Class 18] [Also in Group XVIII] An apparatus for supplying measured quantities of powdered or granulated material such as weed killer comprises a hopper 1 provided at the base with a measuring chamber 3 into which the material can flow past bars 4 connected to a central tube 2 in which is mounted a plunger 5. The apparatus is carried by a handle 9 on the tube 2 and pressure on a knob 8 on the top of the plunger causes the lower end of the plunger to project through the valve 11 into a nozzle 10 at the base of the chamber 3 to discharge a measured quantity of the material. The valve 11 may consist of a rubber disc having three slits radiating from the centre. The plunger 5 is raised from the chamber 3 by a spring 7.
