[Class 116] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] An apparatus for dispen sing liquids such as perfumes in the form of a spray, ad. lib., o r i n measured quantities comprises a container 1 for the liquid, a measuring chamber 14, a discharge nozzle 23, an atomizer 24, a rubber bulb air compressor 20 and a multiway valve 29. In one position of the valve air can be pumped into the container 1 and liquid forced therefrom through a tube 42 to the nozzle 23. In a second position of the valve liquid can be pumped into the measuring chamber 14 and in a third position air may be pumped into the measuring chamber and the liquid therein discharged through the nozzle 23. In a fourth position air is pumped to the atomizer 24 to produce a spray of liquid. In three intermediate positions of the valve the container 1 is vented to relieve excess air pressure. The valve is retained in each of its seven positions by a spring catch. The valve which is of the conical plug type is housed in a head 4 screwed onto the container 1 and carrying the atomizer 24, discharge nozzle 23, flexible tube 21 of the air compressor and a plate 6. The measuring chamber is a calibrated glass tube clamped between the plate 6 and an upper plate 9 by rods 7, 8 one of which is hollow and communicates with passages in the plates 6 and 9 for the passage of air to and from the chamber when it is being emptied or filled. A valve to control the discharge may be provided operated by turning the nozzle 23 on the discharge tube 22.
