540,183. Hydraulic control systems. SOC. OLAER, and MERCIER, J. May 31, 1940, No. 9578. Convention date, June 2, 1939. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A hydraulic control system which is especially applicable for operating the jacks of undercarriages, wings, &c. of heavy aircraft comprises a pressure pump 1 connected by a thin pipe 2, and check valve 3 to a high pressure hydraulic accumulator 1 having a compressed air chamber 4 separated by a piston 5 from the oil chamber 7 which is connected by a wide pipe 8 to a distributor 9 which is connected to a low pressure oleo-pneumatic accumulator 21 the outlet from which is connected by a thin pipe 23 to the exhaust of the pump 1 or to a reservoir 24 connected by a pipe 25 to the pump 1. The distributer 9 comprises a slide valve 10 moving in a casing having wide pipes 11, 17 connected to the ends of a double acting jack 15. The valve 10 may be operated by hand or by a hydraulic control with pipes 27, 28 co-acting with pipes 31, 32 connected to the high pressure pipe 2 and the return pipe 23. A slide valve 29 operated by a lever 30 connects the pipes 27, 28 alternately to high and low pressure. In a modification the invention is applied to a single-acting jack and the accumulators are arranged somewhat differently and the slide valve 10 replaced by a plug cock which normally connects the exhaust of the jack to the accumulator 21, but can be set to connect this end of the jack to the pressure line when it is desired to return the jack to its inoperative position.
