Abstract
541,219. Hydraulic controls. SOC. OLAER, and MERCIER, J. May 31, 1940, No. 9577. Convention date, June 2, 1939. [Class 69 (ii)] A safety device for use in connection with a single-acting or double-acting jack such as are used for controlling flaps, undercarriages &c. of aircraft comprises an emergency pressure conduit 32 which can be connected by a cock 33 to a source of pressure and then actuates a distributing valve 23 and moves it to the right thus cutting off connection between the normal pipes 24, 25 and the cylinder 36 in which the piston 21 works. The piston 21 is then moved in the direction of the arrow f<SP>1</SP> so as to move the operated part to a safe position, e, s to lower the undercarriage of an aeroplane. This is effected by connection of the pressure fluid to an inlet port 28, and by the connection of the port 29 of the cylinder to a pipe 25 leading to exhaust. In a modification the invention is applied to a single-acting jack. The slide valve 23 may be replaced by a rotary or other valve. Specification 460,316, [Group XXXIII], is referred to.
