Abstract
503,658. Fluid - pressure brakes. MERCIER, J. April 27, 1938, No. 12526. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Groups XXXIII and XXXI] In a brake for aircraft, caterpillar vehicles, &c. comprising a distributer 4 adapted to distribute fluid between the brakes on either side of the vehicle to facilitate steering, the pilot is able to control the exhaust outlet of the distributer in order to render the brake release progressive. The exhaust outlet 5 is controlled by a ball valve 7 the tension of the spring 8 of which is controlled by a piston 13 acted on by a cam 14 operated by a connection from the brake control lever 12. A pipe 9 from the distrit er leads to brakes on one side of the vehicle and a pipe 10 to the brakes on the other side. The distributer comprises a slide valve 3 connected to the lever 12 and adapted to be moved to either side of a central position to connect one or other of the pipes 9, 10 to the fluid supply 18 through ports 17, 171 or to the exhaust 5 by ports 16, 16<1> and a port 11 through the slide valve. The brakes may be exhausted rapidly past check valves 21 and a pipe 20. Specification 495,711, [Group XXXIII], is referred to.
