Abstract

548,727. Pressure generators for hydraulic aircraft controls. DOWTY, G. H. Oct. 16, 1940, No. 15355. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Groups XII and XXXIII] An emergency pressure reservoir is provided in a system comprising a pressure source actuating a jack &c. through a control valve for operation of aircraft alighting gear, wing flaps, airscrew pitch controls brakes &c. comprising a differential piston 5 separating the gas and liquid spaces 6, 7, and presenting the larger area to the gas space. Gas may be generated by an explosive or other cartridge 13 which may be actuated by a striking pin 20 released by a locking pin 22, and flows through ports 24 in the cartridge container and through a perforated end wall 11 of a housing 10. The liquid is forced through a pipe 9, and may actuate the jack through the normal actuating conduit, or through a separate conduit, suitable check and release valves being provided.
