[Class 116] Crank-cases and other lubricant receptacles are cleaned by injecting fluid in an annular path at the centre of which the fluid is withdrawn by suction and filtered before re-circulation through the crank-case &c. or delivery back to a container. The apparatus shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a container and filter unit 27, 28 from which the cleansing-fluid is drawn, by a pump 11, through the conduit 29 to a distributing-valve 10. from which it passes through a pipe-line 32 to a flexible hose 46 leading to an adaptor 49. The latter is adapted for connection to the drain opening 62 of a crank-case &c. 51. The stem 72 of jet 83 passes through the tubular stem 66 of the adaptor 49 and is rotatably jointed to the hose 46. The stem 66 forms the suctionoutlet from the case 51 and is connected by a hose 52 and pipe 40 to a trap 39. A pipe 38 leads from the trap 39 to the distributing-valve 10 which, according to its position of adjustment, controls the continued circulation of the fluid through the case 51, or its return to the container 27. As shown, the pipe-line 32 includes a meter 34 and heater 35. The jet 83, which may be vertically adjustable, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, is rotated by means of a hand-wheel or the like 85. In a modification, the hose-lines 46, 52 are connected by a teeunion threaded into the adaptor 49.
