Abstract

1,004,129. Tank-cleaning apparatus. A. J. HAMED. April 29, 1964 [April 30,. 1963], No: 17659/64. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B1] A tank cleaning apparatus 10, particularly for septic tanks for the removal of sediment and fluid therefrom comprises a suction pipe 11 whose intake end 29 is immersable in the fluid, an axially rotatable fluid discharge pipe 20, one end 28 of which extends below the intake end 29 of the suction pipe 11, and which is connectable at its other end 22 to a high pressure fluid source, and at least one nozzle 43 at the end 28 of the fluid discharge pipe 20 arranged to discharge laterally a fluid jet to agitate the sediment in the tank, said suction pipe 11 being connectable to a vacuum source to remove fluid and agitated sediment from the tank. The suction pipe 11 has an angled shoulder portion 15 down through which the fluid discharge pipe 20, equipped with a handle 25 for rotation, is threaded to lie parallel to and within the bore of suction pipe 11. The fluid discharge and suction pipes 20; 11 respectively are supported on a foot 42 to raise the fluid discharge nozzles 44, 43 and suction inlet 29 clear of the tank floor 49. A webbed: radial flange 46 welded between the nozzle 44 and the fluid discharge pipe 20 acts to sweep blocking sediment clear of thesuction inlet 29 as the fluid discharge pipe 20 is rotated. The suction pipe 11 composed of telescopic sections 51, 52 held by a clamp 54 to permit its use in tanks of varying size whilst - the suction hose 18 attached to it is fitted with a window portion 58 to allow the operator to observe the fluid and sediment being removed.
