[Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXVII and XIII] In a heating equipment for the water-cooling system of an engine, of the type comprising an electric heater in contact with the water and connected to a source of current through a thermo-static relay control whereby the current is connected to the heater within a pre-determined temperature range, a thermometer 10 in contact with the cooling water contains an electrically conducting expanding fluid and is provided with contacts 15-17 connected respectively to the heater 6, and to the battery 7 through a circuit breaker 20 through a relay 9 which controls the circuit breaker; one or more of the contacts may be adjustable. Figs. 2 to 4 show alternative forms of the heating coil 6. The battery 7 may be replaced by a plug socket for a mains circuit and the coil 6 may be immersed in the lower water space of the radiator 2.
