Abstract
538,563. Gymnastic apparatus. EDUCATIONAL SUPPLY ASSOCIATION, Ltd., and MILLINER, J. O. Jan. 1, 1940, No. 38. [Class 132 (i)] In gymnastic apparatus comprising vaulting boxes built up in sections and beams adapted to be detachably connected thereto, the beam ends are rectangular and make a close fit in the vertical portions of openings in the walls of box sections, and are provided with hooking irons coacting with eyes mounted on the inner surfaces of the walls of the box sections. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the box units are joined by a common cover 4 having two wedges 6 fitting between the inner uprights 3 to hold the assembly rigid. When used separately the box units have separate covers (not shown). Cross-shaped openings 7 are provided for the insertion of beams cr benches. The beam end 8 is of rectangular section and fits into the vertical portion of the opening 7. The metal cover plate 9 carries bifurcated plates 10, the lower of which engage in eye plates 11 mounted on the blocks 12. On the sloping sides of the box units, the eye plates 11 are mounted on tapering blocks 13 fixed to the blocks 12. Bench ends may be inserted in the horizontal portion of the opening 7. Four box units and four beams may be arranged to form a square. Specifications 373,703 and 397,976 are referred to.
