[Class 11.] The blocks of colour are retained in paint boxes by forming at least two side walls of the compartments for the blocks with undercut portions to engage the edges of the blocks and hold them down. The compartments 1, Figs. 1 and 2, are formed in a plate 2 by bending down flaps of the material to form a rectangular recess. The two end flaps may consist of triangular portions 1a bent vertically downwards, the side flaps being bent first downwards and then inwards to form horizontal portions 1b, on which the colour blocks 5 rest. To retain the blocks against upward movement, the vertical portions of the side flaps are undercut, either by bending them obliquely, as shown in Fig. 2, or by forming them with stepped portions, as shown in Fig. 4. The horizontal portions 1b of the side flaps are preferably bent slightly upwards, so as to press on the undersides of the colour blocks.
