400,779. Printers' composing- appliances. BASTIEN, R., Draycote, Ferrer's Avenue, West Drayton, Middlesex. Nov. 3, 1932, No. 31059. [Class 100 (iii).] Furniture.-Relates to furniture of the kind comprising two interengaging strips, which, when superimposed, are substantially of type height, so as to be applicable for the production of sterotype and electrotype matrices. According to the invention, the strips interengage by means of one or more tongues 13 on one strip and corresponding grooves 11 in the other. The grooves are slightly deeper than the tongues, to allow for the presence of dust &c. In a modification, the tongues and grooves are formed transversely of the strips. Shallow longitudinal grooves may be formed in the tops of the upper strips'to prevent lateral spreading of the matrix material. The furniture may be made of type-metal or brass, or of steel, which may be plated with cadmium.
