Abstract

538,004. Variable-speed belt gearing. AKTIEBOLAGET NYDALS GJUTERI OOCH MEKANISKA VERKSTAD. April 27, 1940, No. 7580. Convention date, April 29, 1939. [Class 80 (ii)] Relates to variable-speed belt gearing in which a multiple expanding pulley is carried on a countershaft and is connected by belts 17, 18, to driving and driven shafts, the countershaft being movable between the latter to vary the speed ratio. The expanding pulley is of the kind having fixed conical portions 8 and movable conical portions 12. According to the invention the conical portions 12 are divided in a radial plane into halves 21, 22. All the parts 21 and an end flange 12<11>, having a conical face sloping in one direction, are connected together by sleeves 15 on a bolt or bolts 13", and the other parts 22 and an end flange 12<1> are similarly coupled together on a bolt or bolts 13<1>. The bolts 13<1>, 13", and sleeves 15 are slidable in the hubs 10 of the fixed parts 8 and through one of the groups 21 or 22. Springs 27, the tension of which is adjustable, urge the parts 21, 22, towards the fixed portions 8.
