Abstract

537,814. Moulding walls in situ. THORNTON, A. A. (Fleisher, R.). Sept. 26, 1939, No. 26677. [Class 20 (ii)] An adjustable and portable shuttering means for use in casting partition walls in situ, comprises a frame built of adjustable uprights in pairs connected by adjustable horizontals and removable shutters adapted to be secured to the frame. The uprights 2 are telescopic and both members are provided with apertures to receive pins or bolts so that they can be roughly adjusted as to height and are then clamped between the floor and ceiling by plates 8<SP>1</SP> at their upper ends, adjusted by screws 8 passing through flanged cap plates on the uprights. The uprights on each side are connected by upper and lower adjustable horizontal bars 13 and the shutters 9, which are each provided with backing frames 10 of smaller size than the shutters, are secured to the frame members by bolts. The shutters may be pinned together by dowels 20 or preferably are secured together by latches so as to be readily detachable from each other. The shutters are raised after each course has been cast and for the upper course the shuttering on one side is placed lower than that on the other so as to leave a space through which the concrete is forced, the space being subsequently closed by filling pieces. A shuttering form for use at the upper ends of openings for windows, doors and the like, is provided with a curved connecting piece CP, Fig. 5, to form the soffit of the opening. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 17988/04, [Class 20], 13818/10 and 264,760, [both in Class 20 (ii)].
