Abstract

Moulding walls in situ.-A system of shuttering for concrete buildings comprises opposed wall-forming sections each formed of overlapping metal plates adjustable horizontally and one or more corner sections each formed of overlapping metal plates adjustable vertically. The metal shutters 1 are formed with upper and lower flanged edges adapted to receive telescopically the flanged filling-pieces 3 which have vertical stiffeners 7 on their backs. The corner-plates are formed of flanged metal sections 8 telescoping vertically, the vertical edge flanges being perforated to receive pins 18 which pass through these perforations and corresponding perforations in vertical end flanges on the shutters. The shutters are further supported by hooked brackets 19 and are distanced apart by spacers 24 which are adapted to support and position the metal reinforcement 28. For forming angles other than right-angles, the comer-plates are formed of parts hinged together for adjustment. Extension shutter plates 30, adjustable vertically, are provided to attain any desired height for casting, and the wall may be cast in single stories or section after section. For hollow walls, flanged core-plates 71, 72 are supported on cross-ties 80 notched at 81 and provided with screw adjusters 82, Fig. 14, and drip collecting depressions at their centres. Key sections 76 for securing the core-plates end to end and extension plates 71<a>, 72<a>, so that the core-plates may be adjusted in length to correspond with the adjustment of the main shutter plates, are also provided. For casting the end walls of buildings, the shutters are pivoted from one end and arcuate filling-plates are provided to fill the gaps between the meeting ends of the shutters at the gable. For casting pilasters in the wall, the corner-plates 8 are provided with extensions 30 and stopper-plates 1, the rear wall face being completed against a filling- piece 40, as shown in Fig. 10. Adjustable telescopic frames formed of flange-section plates are used to form door and window openings in the cast wall.
