Abstract

537,614. Automatic exchange switches. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and COMFORT, E. E. Dec. 27, 1939, No. 32860. [Class 40 (iv)] A switch of the vertical and rotary type has auxiliary banks mounted on both sides of the main bank, the corresponding wipers being mounted on the switch shaft so as to share its vertical movement. The auxiliary banks are adjustably attached to the lugs 16, 17 of a bracket 18 secured to the main bank assembly and comprise terminal strips clamped by plates 21, 22 against insulating blocks 10, 11, which are formed with upward projections between the strips to provide a level track for the wipers. Preferably the strips are formed with locking lips and are bent at the part covered by the clamping plate to prevent removal and twisting, the strip at the end of each bank being bent round the outside of the relevant fixing screw of the clamping plate. The wipers which are carried by an insulating block 25 supported between collars on the switch shaft 26 are of stirrup-form and terminate in solid wire tips which are such that they cannot bridge the terminals.
