Abstract
289,705. Johnsen, A. G. Sept. 30, 1927. Air-break switches of the outdoor type for domestic installations taking supply from overhead lines comprise fixed knife contacts 3 formed from bent-up portions of conducting bands clamped at 3b by terminal clamps (which may serve also to secure the incoming and outgoing leads) to an insulator 1 carried by a support. The shaped insulator, as shown, is grooved to receive the conducting bands A movable contact-member of the knifeblade type and having spring-clip contacts 6 serves to bridge the contacts 3. The lower fixed contacts are formed with an inclined groove 8 in which a pivot pin 7 on the contact 6 engages so that the bridging contact-member can be swung down into the disengaged position where it is held by gravity. The contacts 6 are adjustably secured on their mounting and clamped by screws 12.
