Abstract

537,405. Armoured vehicles. GERREY, B. B., and GERREY, J. L. Oct. 16, 1939, No. 27969. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] An armoured motor vehicle of the endless-track type is provided with a fixed turret 2 containing superposed rows of machine guns 1 arranged for the simultaneous elevation, training and firing of the guns in each row. The guns in each row are mounted on a hand-adjusted transverse shaft 24 trunnioned in end brackets 50 on a plate 20 rotated for training on a vertical shaft 16 by hand wheel 23. The triggers 29 of the guns in each row are operated by separate bell cranks 30 connected by a transverse bar 31 the arm 32 of which is operated to fire all the guns in a row by a projection 33 on a disc 28 rotated by the shaft 16 driven by motor 37. The gun barrels protrude through a horizontal slot 25 having vertical slits 26 to provide for elevation. The dome 12 is provided with a rotary cover having ventilation openings to register with openings in the dome when the cover is rotated on a ball-bearing 9 by a handwheel 10. The radiator is protected by hinged doors 52 simultaneously opened by rotating a handwheel 55. Entrance to the turret is effected through a sliding door 13.
