1373447 Military tank KRAUSS-MAFFEI AG 26 Oct 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 49521/72 Heading F3C In a military tank a gun 5 is pivotable in a vertical plane only, a machine gun is mounted in a turret 19 and a machine compartment, an armament compartment and a crew compartment are provided, the latter being divided off from the armament compartment by at least a longitudinally extending wall. In an embodiment the gun 5, Fig. 3, is mounted on a trunnion 6 carried by the tank and the body 1 has longitudinally extending walls 7, 8, Fig. 1, and a transversally-extending wall 32 which walls form an armament compartment 10, Fig. 1, for the gun 5, a crew compartment 9 and a machine compartment 11 for a motor 12, Fig. 3, a gear mechanism 13, at least part of a steering gear 14 and an ammunition magazine 15. A rear door 22, Fig. 4, is provided for the crew compartment 9 and a rear door 21, Fig. 3, is provided to allow the removal of the motor 12 &c. from the compartment 11. In another embodiment a tank body 28, Fig. 5, has a longitudinally extending wall 30 and a transversally extending wall 31 so as to form a crew compartment 33, an armament compartment 34 and a machine compartment 35. A gun 29 is mounted on a trunnion 37 within the compartment 34 and a cover 39 is provided in a covering 40 of the tank to allow a rear part 36 of the gun 5 to extend above the upper limit of the tank when the front part 38 of the gun is lowered beyond a horizontal datum line.
