1378467 Military vehicles; cooling radiators DR ING hcF PORSCHE AG 23 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 35087/73 Headings B7H and B7B [Also in Division F3] An armoured fighting vehicle comprises a front mounted engine compartment 3, a gearbox compartment 2, a crew compartment 8 which is mounted centrally in the vehicle hull 1 and is provided with walls 7, a hatch for the crew compartment 8 accommodated in the rear wall 9 of the hull 1, and a container 12 which overlaps the hatch, is tiltable about a horizontal axis and is provided with an armoured plate 13. The engine and gear-box compartments together with arms, ammunition and cooling system chambers 4, 5 and 6 are arranged in a "U"-shaped formation around the crew compartment 8. The armour plate 13 of the container 12 extends at least partly between the track components 21 and covers the rear of the vehicle. The container and its armour plate 13 form, with the track components 21 and the rear wall of the hull, downwardly extending air outlet pipes 22 for the engine cooling system. The container 12 has side walls 20 which are mounted to converge in "V"-formation towards the centre of the vehicle and are at least partly covered by the track components 21 or hull 1 and is mounted on the rear of the hull 1 by bolt hinges 11 so as to be jettisoned when desired. The container 12 has a door opening 23 in its rear wall covering the hatch of the crew compartment 8 and is provided with devices for storing utensils or additional ammunition and can receive spare fuel. The vehicle is provided with guns 14, 15 which are automatically loaded from the ammunition compartments 5. Each cooling system 6 includes a radiator 17 mounted in an air shaft 16 and having a cooling air blower 18. Cooling air outlet orifices 19 of the cooling system 6 are overlapped by sections of the armour plate which protrude laterally beyond the container 12.
