Abstract

1434134 Selective printing TOKYO JUKI KOGYO KK 19 June 1973 [20 June 1972] 29146/73 Heading B6F A type carrier includes a number of cylindrical type carriers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 each rotatable about its own axis and mounted between two plates (not shown) whose axis of rotation is the centre of circles B, C. Together these define a carousel C2 which may have type faces 41 fixed to the plates. Such carousels C2, C3 are incorporated in a larger carousel which possesses additionally type cylinders 23 and fixed type carriers 27, this larger carousel having an axis of rotation coaxial with the centres of circles D, F, G. This larger carousel may be slidable parallel to the axes of rotation so that by sliding and rotating a particular type face can be aligned with a print hammer and printing surface. The larger carousel may have 11 to 14 type faces in the axial direction and so can present up to 3000 type faces as may be required by an oriented language. The larger carousel, carousels C2, C3, cylinders 23 and type carriers 2 to 7 are each independently driven, Fig. 3 (not shown), drive control being from a stylus selecting electrically isolated, metal plaques.
