Abstract

537,323. Lamp supports. BELLOW, A. March 16, 1940, No. 4936. [Class 75 (iii)] In an electric lamp of the kind having a clamp for engaging a support, the clamp consists of a jaw 1 on a stem 2, and a jaw 6 pivoted on a member 3 slidable on the stem, the jaw 6 and member 3 being engaged by a spring 7 which holds the jaws in engagement with the support 12 and retains the member 3 in its adjusted position on the stem. The construction provides a wide range of adjustment of the jaws to permit engagement thereof with supports of different sizes. Preferably, the stem is triangular and passes through a similar notch in the member 3 and an enlarged notch in the jaw 6. The spring 7 causes the jaw-pivot 4 and the apex of the notch in the member 3 to bind on the stem. The stem may be formed with notches 2x. The jaw 6 is provided with a lampholder 8 and cage 9, and an eye 11 for the lead 10.
