Abstract
537,216. Electric furnaces. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Sept. 29, 1939, No. 26875. Convention date, Oct. 3, 1938. Addition to 499,437. [Class 39 (iii)] A furnace 1, heated by arcs, is provided with polyphase stirring windings below and covering practically the whole of the'bottom. For twophase, the windings may comprise a circular coil 3 arranged symmetrically about the vertical axis of the furnace, carrying one phase, and two symmetrically arranged coils 4, 5, carrying the other phase. The two phases have no mutual inductance, and the dimensions of the windings are such that the maximum induction of the yoke 6 will be about the same for the two phases. The flow in the bath is indicated by dotted lines 7.
