Abstract
536,951. Salts of mercaptothiazolines. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. 1. Dec. 1, 1939, Nos. 31263 and 31264. Convention dates, Dec. 2, 1938 and Jan. 12, 1939. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group V] Sodium and potassium salts of 2-mercaptothiazolines are produced by treating 2-mercaptothiazoline with a solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide. The zinc, cadmium and lead salts are produced by precipitation from a solution of the sodium salt by adding a soluble salt of the metal. In addition to salts of 2- mercaptothiazoline, salts of the 4-methyl, 4-ethyl, 4-butyl, 5-methyl, 4, 4-dimethyl, 5, 5- dimethyl 4, 5 dimethyl, 4-methyl- 5-butyl, 4-methyl-5-propyl, 4-phenyl, 4-benzyl, 4-#- hydroxyethyl and 5-#-chlorethyl derivatives are mentioned. They may be used as vulcanization accelerators.
