Abstract
536,908. Electric clocks. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Jan. 5, 1940, No. 283. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1939. [Class 139] A clock is driven by an electric synchronous motor fed from a battery and mercury interrupter. As shown, one terminal of the battery 2 is connected by the line 4 to the primary 6 of a transformer B, and the other terminal is connected through the switch 24 and interrupter 16 to the other side of the primary 6. The interrupter comprises two electrodes, one of which is a carbon electrode 18, dipping into a pool of mercury. The secondary 28 of the transformer is connected to the synchronous electric clock 32. The arrangement is particularly applicable to clocks for motor vehicles.
