[Class 81 (ii)] In electric treatment apparatus, of the type comprising an inductior coil in a casing with means for interrupting the primary current and foi varying the voltages supplied from the secondary winding to electrodes on the casing, the electrodes are carried by an insulating member detachably secured to the casing by a sliding joint, and the casing encloses a direct - current source. As shown, a cast metal casing 10 is divided internally by an insulating partition 11 and is closed by an insulating plate 14 slidable in undercut grooves in the edge of the casing and carrying a pair of electrodes 13. The partition 11 carries a dry battery 23 on one side, and an induction coil 15 with a contact breaker 18, 19, 20 on the other. Battery contact posts 25 are connected to the coil primary and to the pivot of a switch arm 22 respectively, the primary circuit being completed through a contact plate for the switch arm and the contact breaker 20. The secondary coil has tappings connected to studs 21 over which the switch arm passes, and is connected to one electrode 13 through a spring contact 29 and plate 30 on member 14, the other electrode being connected by a similar plate and spring contact to the switch arm pivot. Instead of the electrodes 13, metal or like bristles may be provided, connected to the contacts 30 and mounted in a rubber sheet with interposed resilient material. Switch means may be provided for connecting the battery directly with the electrodes.
