Abstract
545,799. Mercury switches. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Sept. 19, 1941, No. 12050. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1940. [Class 38 (v)] In a mercury interrupter wherein the interruption is caused by the vapourization of mercury adjacent a block of comparatively high resistance material such as carbon 10 due to current flow from an electrode 12 through the carbon block 10 to a body of mercury 16, the mercury is held in firm contact with the carbon even though the apparatus is subject to vibration, by a metal 'block 20 of substantial weight netting on the mercury.
