[Class 59] Apparatus for grinding and mixing pastes &c. comprises as a self-contained unit an electric motor b' driving three rollers d, d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> of different widths mounted in bearings between which are positioned springs e<SP>3</SP>, e'. The pressure on the rollers is adjusted by screw-spindles f. The rollers are driven at successively increasing speeds. To maintain the pastes &c. within bounds side-plates g<SP>1</SP> joined by a bridge member g<SP>5</SP> are positioned between the rollers. Scraping means comprises a plate h' mounted between plates h having slots h<SP>1</SP> which accommodate fulcrum pins h<SP>2</SP> on the machine frame ; a slidable weight h<SP>6</SP> urges the leading edge h' of the plate h<SP>3</SP> against the underside of the roller d<SP>2</SP>.
