Abstract

536,500. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., COCKERELL, C. S., BRAILSFORD, J. D., and CUFFLIN, M. H. Feb. 23, 1940, No. 3463. [Class 40 (v)] In a short wave oscillator stability is obtained by tapping down by means of a reactive potentiometer resonant at one end of the tuning range so that the effective tapping point varies with tuning. Fig. 1 shows the potentiometer is formed by choke L3 and capacity C3 which may be wholly or in part stray capacity and resonate just below the lowest frequency tuned together with coupling condenser C2 to form an effective capacitive potentiometer. The choke L3, if not separate from the inductances L1, L2, must be wound taking account of mutual inductance. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement in which the potentiometer comprises the resonant condenser shunted inductance LC3 and the capacity C3 which may be partly stray capacity. In this arrangement the anode is earthed and the cathode fed through choke L4. Specification 529,168 is referred to.
